In case you forgot, Piers Brown had an outstanding Supercross season in 2022. The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas rider took three podiums (all third places) last year and finished third overall in the 250SX East. Things didn’t exactly go his way at the opener, where he crashed before the main event even started, but he showed some fight in his heat in San Diego and finished a solid fifth in the main. Is Pierce about to start collecting more podiums again? ,new year look
Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha’s Enzo Lopes could be the wonder of the young season, moving from some solid top-five threats in the 250SX east last year to becoming a real front runner in the 250SX west. Enzo has been fast in practice and has made good starts, leading laps in the heat races and leading laps in the main. He is fourth in 250SX West Points after a 6-4 finish, but with his start and sprint speed, his chances of a podium shaft for the Triple Crown increase for the first time. Can the Brazilian rider make the jump this Saturday? , jason weigandt
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson’s score reads 7-7 after two rounds, which makes it look consistent, but it’s far from the case. Anderson has been quicker, but crashed in both mains (and several times in Anaheim 1st practice), knocking him out of podium contention. Worse, with Tomac crushing the first two races, Anderson is already 20 points behind in the standings! He has to gain some ground quickly, but he doesn’t need to try too hard to do so, or else there will be more accidents. How will he play it out at the Triple Crown this weekend? – Weigandt
