While there isn’t technically a specified schedule on the PGA Tour’s new playing schedule, the 2023 American Express will have a similar feel. Welcoming 10 of the world’s top 20 players as the drama begins on Thursday, The American Express will be joined by a number of big names looking to start their freshman year.
PGA West will host for the 65th time. Using a three-course rotation, players will be tasked with eliminating the Stadium Course, Nicklaus Tournament Course and La Quinta Country Club over the first three days. On the final day of the tournament – and after the 54-hole cut – competitors will step onto the Stadium Course for the last time.
World No. 5 and 2018 winner Jon Rahm is hitting headlines after his surprise win at the Tournament of Champions. He is joined in the field by world No. 2 Scotty Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau — as well as Xander Schaeffel, who has returned to action after a back injury.
Young stars Will Zalatoris, Sam Burns, Tom Kim and Sungjae Im hope Palm Springs will be the site of their first win in 2023. In the new year, hopefully this could be the year they return to prominence.
