Bangladesh pick four Under-19 players in senior Women’s T20 World Cup squad

Bangladesh’s squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa next month includes four players from the ongoing Under-19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa.

Shamima, 34, is a wicketkeeper-batsman who has played 47 T20Is. Sobhana is a 20 years old batsman and has 15 T20Is under her belt. Both were in the Bangladesh team during the Asia Cup last year. There was no room for Sharmin Akhtar, Fargana Haque, Sanjeeda Akhtar, Fariha Trisna and Rabeya Khatoon, who were part of New Zealand’s previous tour of Bangladesh in December.

“While making the squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup, we considered the format and the conditions. We are playing in South Africa. We are already playing in the Under-19 World Cup, so we decided to pick a mix of youth and experience. Tried. Player,” said Bangladesh women’s team selector Manjurul Islam.

Bangladesh will play their first match of the Women’s T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Cape Town on February 12.
