Florida quarterback Jaden Rashada has been released from his national letter of intent after signing with the Gators on December 21. According to 247Sports, Rashada, a five-star member of the Class of 2023, is ranked the No. 6 quarterback and is considered the No. 29 overall player by 247Sports.

His departure from the Gators’ class leaves the program without a new quarterback signing, although former Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz has committed. through transfer portal,

Rashada’s release is only the latest development in his whirlwind recruitment. originally native to california committed to miami in June over Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M but dropped his choice on the Gators – where he was initially expected to pledge – in November and eventually signed during the early signing period.

After Rashada signed with Florida, coach Billy Napier said, “There’s a high level of trust on both ends,” describing the signal caller as a “junkie” in terms of his work ethic.

However, according to 247Sports, that relationship fell apart over the past few weeks amid an issue with the name, image and likeness agreement Rashada signed with the Gators-affiliated collective.

How does this affect getters

With Rashada likely to move elsewhere to begin his college career, that should clear the stage for Mertz for the Gators in 2023. Mertz is expected to haul in 5,405 yards, 38 touchdowns and 26 interceptions during one uptime with two seasons of eligibility remaining. Up-and-down career with the Badgers.

He was Wisconsin’s primary starter for the last three years during a 19–13 stretch for the program. Former four-star prospect Jack Miller III, an Ohio State transfer, is also on the Gators’ roster. He made his first collegiate start and saw his first action for Florida in the Las Vegas Bowl, where UF did not manage a touchdown drive. Former three-star prospect Max Brown is another option at QB for Florida, not appearing in game action as a true freshman last season.

what is the future of rashada

Several top programs have already signed quarterbacks from the Class of 2023, but Rashada should have no shortage of options. Ole Miss has yet to sign a quarterback this cycle after Rashada was ranked among the early finalists. LSU QB Walker Howard has also entered the transfer portal after appearing in just two games as a true freshman last season, and the Tigers were among Rashada’s initial finalists. According to 247SportsRashada also has a deal with Arizona State, now he is free to explore his options.

Here’s a scouting report on Rashada from 247Sports national recruiting specialist Chris Singletary:

Owns a frame and construction that can add substantial weight and strength. At least 20 pounds of muscle is the mold for easy addition. This will benefit its stability, long-term potential and growth as it matures and becomes stronger. Stands tall in the pocket with mobility to avoid congestion and buy time to make plays under pressure. Poses and does a good job of creating plays off the stage. Mechanically displays a smooth, effortless throwing motion. Dispatches the ball quickly, generating power from his lower body so that the ball leaves his hands. Does a good job of changing pace and adding touches on throws when needed, either to fit passes in tight windows or to complete throws over defenders.

Another option could be Miami as Rashada was previously committed to the Hurricanes. But Cain signed three-star signal caller Emory Williams last month.
