India chose to bowl vs new zealand

Unlike the ODI series, India won the toss in the first match of the T20I series in Ranchi and chose the more convenient option of chasing down the target. India captain Hardik Pandya talks about expecting dew; In fact, he said, he could feel some dew as early as 6.30 pm, which should be slight.
India recalled left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav to their T20I XI after his impressive comeback in ODIs and Tests, which meant leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal sat out. As suggested by Pandya on the eve of the series, Prithvi Shaw did not make a straight return to the XI: the team management went with Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan as the openers. Gill was the only anchor in the batting line-up.
For New Zealand, Mark Chapman and Ish Sodhi joined the team that lost the ODI 3–0. Jacob Duffy, Blair Tickner and Lockie Ferguson were their fast bowlers.

India 1 Shubman Gill, 2 Ishan Kishan (wk), 3 Rahul Tripathi, 4 Suryakumar Yadav, 5 Hardik Pandya (c), 6 Deepak Hooda, 7 Washington Sundar, 8 Shivam Mavi, 9 Umran Malik, 10 Arshdeep Singh, 11 Kuldeep Yadav

new zealand 1 Finn Allen, 2 Devon Conway (wk), 3 Mark Chapman, 4 Glenn Phillips, 5 Daryl Mitchell, 6 Michael Bracewell, 7 Mitchell Santner (c), 8 Blair Tickner, 9 Ish Sodhi, 10 Jacob Duffy, 11 Lockie Ferguson
