Marianne Vos will not defend her cyclocross world title due to an ongoing problem with her pelvic artery.
According to her Jumbo-Visma team, Vos is suffering from narrowing of one of her pelvic arteries during the current cyclocross season and has decided not to continue racing.
Despite losing Vos, the Dutch team still has a chance to bring home a rainbow jersey with new signing of this season’s star performer, Fame van Ampel.
“It’s very unfortunate that things have turned out like this,” Vos said. “I really would have preferred it to be different, but treatment and recovery are a priority to start the road season without complaint. Of course, I hope the rainbow jersey stays with the team and is worn by Fame Van Ampel next season.” Will go

Vos won a record-breaking eighth world cyclocross title in Fayetteville last year, beating Dutch teammate Lucinda Brand at the line.
She made her debut in the Rainbow Band at Varden last October, finishing second behind Blanca Vas. Since then, she has finished on the podium only once, with her win in Kortrijk in late November.
